Key information you should know
- A referral is not required to see a psychologist.
- We are able to process your Medicare rebate on the day.
- EFTPOS facilities are available.
Medicare rebates
You don’t need a referral to see a psychologist, but you may be eligible for a Medicare rebate if your GP provides a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) under item 2710. With a valid MHCP, we can process your rebate on the day of your session, and Medicare will credit the rebate directly to your registered bank account.
Current rebate rates:
- Psychologist: $96.65
- Clinical Psychologist: $141.85
Many private health funds also offer rebates for psychological services. Please check with your provider for details. Payment is required on the day of consultation, and EFTPOS facilities are available for your convenience.
Rates & fees
Our rates range from $240 for our psychologists to $370 per session for clinical psychologists.
The per-session fee with a psychologist range from $240 - $275 for individuals.
The clinical psychology fee ranges from $280 – $370 for individuals and $295 – $350 for couples.
Cancellation & Rescheduling policy
Life happens, and we understand that plans can change. However, to ensure we can provide timely support to clients in need and respect our clinicians’ valuable time, we have the following cancellation policy.
Notice Period & Fees
We require at least 24 hours' notice during reception hours (Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM) for any cancellations or rescheduling. Changes made within this period, including missed appointments, will incur the full session fee, which will be automatically charged.
Key Guidelines
- Monday appointments must be cancelled by the same time on Friday (e.g., a 10 AM Monday appointment must be cancelled by 10 AM Friday).
- Public holiday appointments must be cancelled by the same time on the last business day before the holiday.
- Cancellations outside reception hours will be processed on the next business day and may still incur a fee if they fall within the 24-hour policy.
- Cancellation fees cannot be claimed through Medicare or private health insurance.

Payment procedures
At the Institute for Healthy Living, we prioritise the security and confidentiality of your payment information. During the intake process, we securely collect and store your credit card details using encrypted systems that comply with industry standards. Your card will only be charged on the day of your session, ensuring a seamless payment experience.
For in-person sessions during our reception hours, we offer the option to pay via EFTPOS at the time of your appointment. If you prefer, we also accept direct deposit payments into our bank account—simply let us know prior to your session.
