Cognitive Assessments
Evaluating cognitive, learning, and behavioural strengths to guide support plans.
Key information you should know
- Comprehensive and Individualised: Each assessment is tailored to the individual's unique needs, combining standardised tests, clinical interviews, and behavioural observations to ensure accurate and meaningful results.
- Time Commitment: Cognitive testing typically involves multiple sessions, including an initial consultation, test administration lasting several hours, and a follow-up feedback session to discuss results and recommendations.
- Practical Outcomes: The assessment provides a formal diagnosis (if applicable) and detailed recommendations for therapy, educational support, or workplace accommodations to help individuals thrive.
Due to commence in July 2025
The Institute for Healthy Living is due to commence offering comprehensive cognitive assessments designed to evaluate and diagnose ADHD, autism spectrum conditions, and learning disorders in both adults and children.
These formal assessments involve a combination of standardised testing, clinical interviews, and behavioural observations to provide an in-depth understanding of cognitive strengths and challenges. Conducted by our trained clinicians in a supportive environment, the process typically includes an initial consultation, test administration, and a detailed feedback session. Each assessment is tailored to individual needs, providing clear diagnostic insights and recommendations to guide further support, interventions, or educational adjustments.
Assessments
ADHD Assessments
Our ADHD assessments will provide a comprehensive evaluation of attention, executive functioning, memory, and cognitive flexibility. They involve clinical interviews, behavioural questionnaires, and standardised tests that measure cognitive abilities, emotional regulation, and impulse control. These assessments explore developmental history, academic performance, and daily functioning to understand how ADHD impacts an individual’s life. Results are analysed to differentiate ADHD from other conditions with overlapping symptoms, such as anxiety or learning disorders, and to develop tailored recommendations for treatment and support.
Autism Spectrum Assessments
Our autism spectrum assessments will evaluate social communication, behavioural patterns, and sensory processing. They involve structured interviews, caregiver questionnaires, and standardised tests that assess social interactions, language development, and repetitive behaviours. The evaluation also explores developmental history, emotional regulation, and adaptive functioning in various settings, such as home and school. By identifying strengths and challenges, these assessments help distinguish autism from other conditions and provide personalised recommendations for interventions, therapies, and educational support to enhance the individual’s overall quality of life.
Learning Disorder Assessments
Our learning disorder assessments will examine cognitive processes related to reading, writing, and mathematics. They involve clinical interviews, standardised tests, and questionnaires that assess skills like phonological processing, working memory, attention, and problem-solving. These assessments explore developmental, educational, and family history to identify patterns of strengths and difficulties. The results help distinguish learning disorders from other challenges, such as ADHD or anxiety, and provide tailored recommendations for educational strategies, interventions, and accommodations to support academic success and overall learning outcomes.
