Alysha is the founder and principal Clinical Psychologist at the Institute for Healthy Living. She combines her in-depth clinical knowledge with a warm and relatable manner to make therapy effective and meaningful. Since anyone get stuck struggling with painful aspects of being a human, Alysha focuses her energy on finding the most workable way to help each person get “unstuck”. She is incredibly proactive and attentive as a therapist; striving to achieve effective change. Her authentic and compassionate style is something many of her clients appreciate.

Treatment approaches

Alysha is best known for her work using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). She considers both current research and individual preference in designing therapy. She has training and experience using the most up-to-date and evidence based approaches including:

  • Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
  • mindfulness-based cognitive therapies

Alysha supports clients experiencing a wide range of issues, with particular experience in addressing:

  • binge eating and over-eating

  • anxiety disorders including worry, panic, social anxiety and obsessive compulsive disorder

  • perinatal psychology (antenatal and postnatal adjustment, depression, anxiety)

Alysha has completed a total of six years of intensive formal training, including a Masters in Clinical Psychology. She has conducted research into emotional health in relationships and body image difficulties. Before opening her own private practice, Alysha worked in a number of public and private health settings, and has experience running group therapy sessions as well as one-on-one therapy. She has 7 years experience in private practice.
