Alysha Coleman (née Casey) is the founder and principal Clinical Psychologist at the Institute for Healthy Living. She combines her clinical knowledge with a warm and relatable manner to make therapy effective and meaningful. Since anyone get stuck struggling with painful aspects of being a human, Alysha focuses her energy on finding the most workable way to help each person get “unstuck”. She is incredibly proactive and attentive as a therapist; striving to achieve effective change. Her authentic and compassionate approach allows her to work successfully with adolescents, and adults.

Alysha supports clients experiencing a wide range of issues, with particular experience in addressing:

  • binge eating and over-eating
  • eating disorder treatment

Alysha has specialised training in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness-based cognitive therapies. Her predominant treatment approach is ACT.

Alysha has completed a total of six years of intensive formal training, including a Masters in Clinical Psychology. She has conducted research into emotional health in relationships and body image difficulties. Before opening her own private practice, Alysha worked in a number of public and private health settings, and has experience running group therapy sessions as well as one-on-one therapy. She has been in private practice for 4 years.
